practice
Collaboration: Architectureplus, Studio Zwam, Rijksvastgoedbedrijf (internship), etc.
Working as a freelance architect I collaborate on various projects in all stages; from creative explorations to technical detailing and from historical research to construction management. I have extensive experience in working with historical and monumental buildings as well as new construction.
design
Collaboration: Koelhuis Frigo, Een Kamer voor Jezelf, Amsterdam Light Festival, etc.
As a strong conceptual and visual thinker, I am frequently asked to participate in interior and object design projects. These include exhibition and hospitality design, as well as graphic work and object design.
research
Collaboration: Museum het Schip, De Obrechtsjoel, Een Plek onder de Zon, etc.
I have experience editing, writing and publishing. Lately I’m involved in several creative research proposals. These subsidized projects make it possible to work without clients and present directly to the public or to work with clients to help them reach their goals.
concept
My favorite projects are the ones that are pure fictional. These proposals make it possible to explore all sorts of conflicts and stories. For my graduation design for the derelict railroad in Paris I was free to think about the implications of my actions and the value of decay. Experiment makes up a big part of my practice.

As difficult as it is to curate your work in a single story, I have tried to show the diversity of my practice in this portfolio. I have divided my approach to architecture into four aspects: conceptual thinking, creative design, a practical mindset and theoretical research.
[CONCEPT] shows my graduation project, a walk-through concept piece of a derelict railway line in Paris. Not intended as a feasible design, it deals with notions like intervention, people in the margins and exploration.
[DESIGN] presents various projects, both built and imagined. It deals with a strongly client driven and cooperative process in which my preference for practical and no-nonsense design is made clear.
[PRACTICE] deals with the various restoration and transformation I worked on. The synagogue, the various cemeteries and the church are altered as little as possible, while restoring their enourmous potential as monumental building. Here is also a list of completed projects.
[THEORY] focusses on the research based and written aspect of my work. Difficult to showcase, but an invaluable part of my design process. Research by design is an important part of my study for material and form.
